An Oasis of Thoughts

Senki Zesshou Symphogear – 01

Short Summary: Err..without spoiling: Hibiki Tachibana (Aoi Yuuki) goes to see the popular duo singers Zwei Wing alone after her friend was caught up in some problems. Kanade (Minami Takayama) and Tsubasa (Nana Mizuki) get ready to perform and once on stage, the audience is captivated. Suddenly, monsters called Noise appear and begin to turn the spectators into some sort of black sludge but Zwei Wing is able to fend off the incoming Noise attack. Hibiki manages to escape with her life, two years go by and she is following in the footsteps of Zwei Wing. Once again, Noise attacks and Hibiki is cornered….

Thoughts: What the actual fuck did i just watch? Holy cow, that felt like Madoka Magica all over again. I could say this episode was rushed, but honestly i didn’t care. The concert scene was really well animated and of course it’s not a show about music if Nana Mizuki isn’t involved somehow. This is looking to be a surprisingly strong Winter season if Another delivers, and it’s a blessing that this series is going to be on Fridays: the best day for me to blog. I’m honestly stoked to see what sort of crazy magic Satelight and Encourage Films conjure up for next episode, leaving us with that creepy face reminiscent of the shadows from the Kingdom Hearts series.

Chances of Blogging: 100% (Another Friday series doesn’t hurt at all.)
Chances of Watching: 100% (Like above.)

  1. I almost did not finish watching this, but I am glad I did. The last scene where Tachibana looks like one crazy badass bitch makes me wish episode 2 was out already. I hope it is another Madoka. Usually the winter season is pretty shit but this season could be great!

    • Yeah, it’s weird to see so much hate for this when it clearly delivered. I agree, Winter is looking mighty strong and on the other hand Spring isn’t looking good besides the Eureka Seven sequel, though more shows are probably going to be announced and the second part of Fate/Zero.
